Name & Title:
David Ellis, Senior Director of People Operations
Describe what you do at Lovepop.
My role at Lovepop is to support our teams, culture, and the employee experience. I love building talented and diverse teams of extraordinary thinkers who are hungry and curious about their work and bringing amazing things to life. I see my role as an orchestrator in which I ensure we have the right talent, producing the right things at the right time.
What's the best thing about your job?
I love getting to support our organization in cultural creation and development, attracting and developing talent, building skills, and capabilities, and most importantly, supporting all of our amazing employees to become the best versions of themselves.
Out of our 4 core values (engineering, hunger, magic, connection), which one describes you best and why?
My favorite of all our core values would be magic. Lovepop has a very magical aura that is apparent when you join the organization. The ways in which we work and how the results that we produce are remarkable. People are the lifeblood of any organization, and we message and demonstrate this thoroughly at Lovepop. One of our most consistent applications to everything we do is to ensure that we are thoughtful across all spectrums of the people we impact: our employees, customers, and communities. Through this magical value, we bring great things to life.
What is your favorite Lovepop card?
Toy Story: Woody & Buzz and Star Wars: The Mandalorian The Child
If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
I would love to work as a designer on our team to learn further how our magic comes together. I have been very impressed with Lovepop's design team, even before I joined the organization. The type of designs we create in the 3-D format is simply unique. I like how we put the "art" and the "science" together to provide one of the most impressive products I have seen in 20 years of retail.
What do you like doing outside of work?
I love the outdoors, sports, reading, and volunteering. I have spent many years trying to understand my role in making the world a better place. I now have better perspectives of just being the best version of myself, sharing love, and making meaningful connections in my communities, and I am making the world a better place.
If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Smoked beef brisket
What is your go-to karaoke song?
"The Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor
