This summer, while a lot of us are making plans for fireworks and long sunny days, there are kids spending the season in a hospital. On Saturday, June 13th, we're inviting you into select Lovepop stores to do something small that means a lot to them: sign a card.
We're donating 300 cards in total to hospitalized children, and every one of them will carry a handwritten note from someone who stopped in. We'd love for that someone to be you.
The card you'll be signing
We chose our Patriotic Bundle for the occasion. Open the Stars and Stripes card and 3D stars in red, white, and blue rise off the page, with flags and starbursts surrounding the line "broad stripes and bright stars." For a kid who might miss out on the real fireworks this year, it's a piece of summer they can hold onto.
A pop-up card does a lot of the work on its own, but it's the message inside that a child reads and rereads. That's the part we need help with.
How it works
Stopping by takes just a few minutes. Come to any participating store on June 13th, pick up a card, and write a short note for a child who could use some encouragement. You don't have to be a writer. A line like "Sending you sunshine" or "You've got this" goes a long way. We'll take care of getting every signed card where it needs to go.
Bring family, bring a friend, or come on your own. It adds up quickly when 300 cards go out together.
Where to find us on June 13th
- Downtown Disney (CA) — 11 am to 5 pm
- Disney Springs (FL) — starting at 10 am
- Hudson Yards (NY) — starting at 12 pm
Drop by whenever fits your day, whether you're already headed to one of these spots or making a special trip.
About Cards for Hospitalized Kids
Cards for Hospitalized Kids (CFHK) is a national nonprofit, founded in 2011 by Jen Rubino, that brightens the days of hospitalized and seriously ill children through handmade cards. Jen started it as a teenager during her own hospital stays, and the organization has since delivered more than 500,000 cards to kids in over 150 hospitals and Ronald McDonald Houses across the country. You can learn more about their work at cardsforhospitalizedkids.com.
Come spread a little summer joy
A hospital stay can feel long and isolating for a child. A card that pops open with color, signed by a stranger who took a moment to think of them, is a reminder that they're not forgotten. Help us send 300 of those reminders this June.
We hope to see you on the 13th.
